Types of UPVC Door Handles

Lever pad handles are available in various finishes and variations and can be used on a variety of materials, including UPVC doors, Aluminium doors & Timber Doors. They are sold in pairs for the outside and the interior doors, with spindles and screws included. They are also available in handed and unhandled versions to suit different types of users.

These can be used to replace window handle existing upvc door. They are usually operated by lifting the levers, which throw out all of the multipoint locks before turning the key to close / unlock. They provide a bit more security than traditional lever door handles because locking can only be performed from the inside using keys.

Usually, you can still get in by knocking on the door frame or letterbox, however this isn't ideal.

If your uPVC door has a snib lock it is recommended to replace the handle with a contemporary E-LOK 7-Series smart lock. These locks can be retrofitted on pull handle kits with double turns and are available with cover plates to conceal the holes that are already present, allowing for a seamless install. The E-LOK makes use of a smart application to allow you to open the door with mechanical keys or RFID cards and can be set up with passcodes to ensure security and convenience. The system is tested to 200k cycles to ensure durability. The handles themselves are constructed with a solid metal construction and are BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 for corrosion resistance.

Lever/Moveable Pad

This is a very popular handle style for front doors. It has the benefit of keeping the door from opening by the outside without a key, if the lock isn't deadlocked. This is accomplished by an external 'pad' handle that locks into the gap between the handles and the lock case to stop the latch from being withdrawn or the door opened.

This type of handle is designed for uPVC doors that are fitted with multipoint locks which operate via split spindle operations. This type of operation requires that the lever handle and external pad handle both be fitted to the same lock case. This could be a straightforward switch from the current uPVC handles, but it might also involve changing the lock case or a brand new set of handle furniture to allow this added functionality.
