Types of UPVC Door Handles

When your upvc door handle is in need of replacement, it's important to choose the correct replacement for your home. Locksmiths can provide and install high-security uPVC handles with added security features.

The most important measurements are measurement A (known as PZ) and the length of the backplate (measurement F). Please check these measurements to make sure your new uPVC handles will fit.

Lever/Lever

A lever is a rod that pivots around a point. When you apply force towards the end, the fulcrum will rotate in the direction that the force is applied. This motion increases the force and lets you lift or move things that normally require more force to lift.

The distance between the fulcrum and the point where you apply the force determines the distance the lever can move. This is referred to as the mechanical advantage. The advantage of mechanical force increases when the lever is extended. You can calculate mechanical advantage by dividing the distance from fulcrum point to the place where you are applying force by distance between the fulcrum's point and the end of the lever.

Levers can have different effects based on how the force is applied. For instance, a class 2 lever is inclined to turn in the opposite direction when the force applied to it (like a teeter-totter). If you push the door's handle and force it to open, the forces will cause the same rotational effects as this.

However, levers don't create energy. They multiply the force by making small amounts of effort applied over a longer distance into greater amounts of force that are applied over shorter distances. This allows you to accomplish more in a shorter amount of time, which is why levers are commonly used to lift heavy objects or moving large quantities of cargo. The lever principle is used in everyday tools like crowbars. Hammer claws fishing rods, hammer claws, and your own legs, when you stand on your car's hand brake.

Lever/Pad

Lever pad handles, also known as upvc door handles feature levers on both sides to operate the multipoint locks. Lever pad handles are available in various finishes and variations and can be installed on a wide range of materials, including UPVC doors, aluminium door handle doors & Timber Doors. They are sold in pairs for the outer and inner door with spindles & screws included. They are also available in hand and unhandled versions for different types of users.

They are typically used for new constructions and are used to replace the existing doors made of upvc. The levers are lifted to open all the multipoint locks and the key is turned to close or unlock the door. They provide a bit more security than the standard lever handles for doors, as the locking is only done through the inside with the key.

They are not as secure as a cylinder bolt, but are a cost-effective option to provide extra home security. The only downside is that they don't have the same level of protection like a cylinder bolt and therefore don't stop external access when the door is left open.

Lever/Snib

Lever/Moveable Pad

This popular style of handle is commonly used on front doors. It offers the benefit of preventing the door from being opened without the key from outside if the lock has not been deadlocked. This is accomplished through a 'pad' shaped external handle which locks in the gap between the handles and lock case to stop the latch from being pulled back or the door being opened.

This handle is designed to be used with uPVC multipoint locks that use a split spindle mechanism. This kind of operation requires the internal lever handle and the external pad handle to be mounted to the same lock case. It could be a simple replacement of the current uPVC handle, however it may also require a change in the lock case or a new set to handle furniture.

The lever/lever handles are among the most commonly used types of upvc doors handles. They are available in various designs. It is comprised of two handles that can be locked and moved with a thumbturn cylinder or the use of a key. Pad handles are an alternative to a lever/lever handle. It consists of a fixed or movable pad that can be used to operate the lock. These Fullex handles are sprung lever pads that have a snib that can be turned on to stop the latch from closing.
