Saab Key Programming

Saab cars manufactured since 1994 feature an immobilizer that relies on a set of keys. A new transponder is required for the inclusion of an additional key, and special programming. This is usually done by the dealer using the Tech2 diagnostic tool.

Transponder key

The transponder is a type of key with an electronic chip. The chip transmits a signal when the key is inserted into the ignition. The car checks to see whether the signal is the same as the one on the key. If the signals are in sync it will unlock and start.
